The Importance of Our Pet Families!

For some of us, our families are spread out all over the country, maybe even the world in some cases. Not all of us are fortunate enough to have our loved ones as close as we would like, but we are lucky to enjoy the company of our furry family that help to keep us active and lift our spirits daily.

Many Americans are choosing to age in place. A large part of that is due to the fact that many senior living communities do not allow pets, and the ones that do, come with a hefty price tag.

In a survey conducted by Home Instead Senior Care, they asked retired seniors, if they would feel lonelier without their pet. Most (86%) said they definitely would. They also indicated that they wouldn’t be as healthy without their pet.

With prices continually going up, pet care is climbing right alongside of everything else. Unexpected trips to the veterinary office are not cheap. If your pet(s) needs surgery, it can cost thousands of dollars. This we know from personal experience and our friend’s nightmare stories of their beloved Golden needing that $8,000 foreign object removal surgery. Yikes!
